Description

Shrimp scampi is a classic Italian-American dish known for its simplicity and elegant flavors. It features succulent shrimp sautéed in garlic and butter, with a touch of white wine and lemon juice. This dish is quick, easy, and perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Melt butter and sauté garlic: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Cook shrimp: Add shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Add wine and lemon juice: Pour white wine and lemon juice over the shrimp. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Season and serve: Stir in red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of dried oregano or thyme to the dish.
  • If you don’t have white wine, you can use chicken broth or vegetable broth instead.
  • This dish is best served with crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
