Description

This recipe combines juicy, flavorful steak bites with creamy mashed potatoes for a comforting and satisfying meal. The steak is pan-seared with garlic butter for an irresistible flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef tenderloin or sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • For the Mashed Potatoes:

    • 3 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup heavy cream
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steak: Pat the steak bites dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Sear the Steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak bites and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  • Make Garlic Butter: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  • Combine Steak and Garlic Butter: Return steak bites to the skillet and toss to coat with garlic butter. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.

  • Cook Mashed Potatoes: Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and return potatoes to the pot.

  • Mash Potatoes: Mash potatoes with a potato masher or an electric mixer until smooth.

  • Add Cream and Butter: Stir in milk, heavy cream, and butter until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Serve: Serve steak bites with mashed potatoes and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use any type of steak you prefer, such as flank steak or ribeye.
  • For extra flavor, marinate the steak in olive oil, garlic, and herbs for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
  • If you don’t have heavy cream, you can use whole milk or half-and-half.
  • For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of sour cream to the mashed potatoes.
  • Leftover steak bites and mashed potatoes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
